Sutjeska National park - or the gravel road torture

After a fabulous breakfast at our favourite place under the lime tree we started again down the hill to visit the Begova Mosque, which was close yesterday.

Then back up to pick our luggage and car and start for Sutjeska National park. It was already pretty hot.

After about 1 1/2 hour drive we entered the area of our interest.
Started - following the guidebook- with the memorial of World War II climbing - climbing up all the steps in the sun at about 34 degrees. This was at least so brave as the warriors, they are honoured there.

Then we continued to see the real attractions of this place, the primary forest, the mountains and the marvellous viewpoints, as our guidebook told us.

We found a gravel road, barely drivable, about 15 km each direction about 1 hour drive. We both were so concentrated on the road, that we did I not se much from the surrounding. But at the stops we had some great impressions.

At least we ended up at the starting point of an 1 hour walk as our guidebook told. In the meanwhile it was 15.30 pm

We started, happy to move ourselves on foot now, admiring the view over the mountains and the flowers. Our goal was the mountain lake  Trnovsko Jezero, already situated in Montenegro.

We met some guys they told us that it would be another 4 km walk. What they did not tell us, is what we saw some minutes later.
To reach this place you had to walk down in this wonderful green valley and climb up again at least to the next valley behind the forest.
So we decided that this would be too far and not reachable, having in mind our hard cardrive back. Anyhow, as we are Bolhars, it is not so easy to give up a goal, at the end we ended up at the lake, and we would have missed something, if we wouldn't have done it.

Driving back was hard but we caught sunset exactly at the first viewpoint and ended up with a mixed grill dish in Bosnian style (the first food since our fulminate breakfast in Sarajevo). and several beers in the local hotel.
